Time to start writing again!

Good Morning,
Shelly & I have a new Grand Baby!
Living and working in West Virginia has been very enjoyable.  Glad we made the move last March (2008).  I'll add a few pitures tonight!  More will follow because yesterday I signed up for twitter - - me, 61 year old retired Army Aviator - keeping up with the new technology.
Have a Good Day and a Great Week.

Last Year after Hawaii till 5 July '06

Hope you enjoy the pictures (January 16 folder).  Last year after Hawaii in June Shelly and I traveled to Washington DC for the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Reunion.  DC is filled with so much History it makes my head swim with amazement.  Today it's about 23 degress F outside and the ground is covered with ice.  I enjoy looking at some of our pictures from last summer when we traveled from Oklahoma City to Washington DC the first of July and thought I would share some with you.  Shelly and I had a wonderful time and spent some time with friends who work in DC and also had traveled to DC for the annual Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Reunion.  Shelly and I took in the sites and reminisced with friends from 1970 & 1971.  Walked in a parade and people were saying, "Thank You".  Rather different than when I returned from Vietnam in 1971.  I want to Thank You - each and every one of you who support our men and women in all the Branches of the Military.  Your support is appreciated so much more than you will ever know or understand.  Our Freedom today and our future Freedom depends upon the efforts of our Military defeating the evil people who are committed to destroying our government and our way of life.

I'm sharing our travels with you and hopefully you will have the opportunity to travel this Nation and enjoy our Country.

God Bless You

The Day After Christmas

Good Morning everyone!

It's 0543 the day after Christmas here in Oklahoma City.  Shelly and I were headed out the door for the gym when our trainer called and said he was sorry but the gym would not open until 0800.  The management did not tell the trainers and in fact did a very poor job of informing the customers because Jeff, the trainer, said there was a big line of people this morning at 0500 when he arrived and discovered the error.  Well, what to do now that I've had my creatine my herbals (for energy) - I'm pumped - I'm ready and it's to cold outside for me to ride my bike, walk or jog & & & who am I fooling - I don't jog - the old knees won't take the pounding and talk about pounds!!!!!!!  I don't know about you but I have really enjoyed the food the past two days - man, their is no comfort food like home cooked food.  Well, that's it for now - how about you?  How has your past few days been?  I hope you had a wonderful time with family and friends.  God Bless You All.

I'm passing something along that I found on another's Space

There are a lot of good spaces on the internet.  Serenity Seekers posted a "Letter from God".  You may have already seen this so here it is again and if you haven't - - then please spend a few moments and receive a blessing.  Thank you Lynda - http://hamersplace.spaces.live.com/

Letter from God

Dear Children,

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own.   I don't care what you call the day.  If you want to celebrate My birth, just get along and love one another. Now, having said, that let Me go on.

If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santas and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn.  If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree.  It was I who made all trees.  You can and may remember Me anytime you see any tree.

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list:

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home.  They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year.  I know, they tell Me all the time.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home.  You don't have to know them personally.  They just need to know that someone cares about them.

3. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them.  Tell them the story of My birth and why I came to live with you down here.  Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.

4. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.

5. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless?  Since you don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile it could make the difference.  Also, you might consider supporting the local Hot-Line: they talk with people like that every day.

6. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there.  Give them a warm smile and a kind word.  Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one.  Then stop shopping there on Sunday.  If the store didn't make so much money on that day, they'd close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families.

7. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary, especially one who takes My love and Good News to those who have never heard My name.  You may already know someone like that.

8. Here's a good one.  There are individuals and whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive.  If you don't know them, buy some food and a few gifts and give them to some charity that believes in Me and they will make the delivery for you.

9. Finally if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian.  Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence.  Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine.

P.S. Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself.  Just love Me and do what I have told you to do.  I'll take care of all the rest.  Check out the list above and get to work; time is short.  I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court.  And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those you love and, remember, I love you.

IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS

ARE YOU READY?

Got that shopping done?  Got that important gift for that important person?  Better get with it if your not ready!!!!!

The Best to all out there - I hope this will be one of your most enjoyable Christmas Seasons ever.  May the joy of Christmas and the true spirit of Christmas be with you everyday of your life.

I know you have seen these but here they are again:
I've Learned:
That you cannot make someone love you.  All you can do is be someone who can be loved.  The rest is up to them!
I've Learned:
That no matter how much you care, some people just don't care back!

This has been a summer of learning and accepting some of life's facts for me.  Retirement is very nice and I highly recommend it for everyone.  However, one fact that I have learned is that I must change.  Some of my dreams and goals that invlove others can only be accomplished through their efforts.  My efforts to help them achieve their dreams have to be reevaluated.  I must make some changes in me in order to help others but I also have to realize the above:  No matter how much I care, some people just don't care back?  May your life be full of accomplishments that are on your dream list.

Merry Christmas

failure

Mickey Rooney

Well, I doubt Mickey Rooney is on top of too many people's list for most quotable, but hey...he's got a point.

What is failure anyway, but something tried?  A very often heard quote goes something like this - Try and you will risk failure.  Don't try and you will guarantee it.

In the end success and failure are how we decide to measure them after all.  Who is the judge of my success or failure?  Can anyone judge it really?  One values something higher than another.  That being the case, none can be judge over ones success or failure, as they cannot share the same standard.

Who's to say failure is not success anyway?  Look at old Abraham Lincoln.  Ran for office many times and was beaten again and again.  Only in the end to rise up as one of our greatest Presidents, at a time when it would only take a great man to hold the nation together.

How many times in our lives are we knocked down only to get up, dust ourselves off, and get it right the second time?

The trick is never to stay down.

And never to believe it if we are somehow told that is where we belong.

Have you started thinking about 2007?

Good Evening!

Did you have a Good Day?  The weather has been very mild here in Oklahoma City, OK.  However, come the first of the week the weather will change - a chance for rain - does not look like a White Christmas though.  The temperatures are forecast to remain rather mild but I know Oklahoma and I know that those freezing temperatures are just around the corner.

Tell us (those that read this blog) how your day was today.  It is a fact that those that read blogs are interested in other people.  I know many people would like to hear about your day - feel free to leave a comment.

Have you ever been excited about a brilliant idea that you were overwhelmingly passionate, which you could not wait until the opportunity you would have to share your idea withy your friends only to have them over analyze your plan and pick it apart once you did?  Are you strong willed by sticking with your instinct anyways, or do you allow your associate's and friend's so-called sound thinking to keep you from pursuing the unsound?  "Your instincts are the only way you're going to do something unsound.  And unsound things become hits.  Sound ones never do." - Seth Godin

I look forward to reading your comments and I'm sure others will enjoy reading what you have to say - - - All I ask is make it as positive as possible so that we may uplift someone along life's road.

Merry Christmas and God Bless

Memorial Day

Good Morning to all on this Memorial Day -2006.  We have so much to be grateful for and so much if not all is because of our loved ones who have given their life so we can have the freedom we enjoy today.  To them and for us to remember here is a poem followed by a comment and ended by what is the most popular words to Taps.  God Bless the Fallen and God Bless you that read these words. - Jerry

In Flanders Fields - John McCrae, 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Then Moina Michael replied with her poem:

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

We all have loved ones or friends that have given their all - this reading of Taps is for them - -

I hope you can listen to one of the verisions of taps while reading the following:

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;
Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
'Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

Thanks for visiting my site - May your life on Earth be a Long and Happy one - God Bless You

09 May 2006

I know it is way past time to post a blog.  Shelly and I have been traveling a lot but that is not a good excuse for not writing.  I'm sorry, please forgive me.  I will put a couple pictures up from our trips and will spend more time in the next few days posting more pictures.  I realize that many people are not interested in the travels of a retiring military guy and his wife - I realize that many people are not interested in the feelings of an old 58 year conservative man who grew up on a farm in western Oklahoma - I realize that many people are not interested in a man who is changing careers and wondering what can he do and where can he be effective - - well, for those that are interested that is going to be the premise of my blog for a while.  I still support the troops wherever they are, I still support the President and I believe we all should continue to pray for him, for our troops, our politicians and our country that we will continue to have the freedoms we enjoy and the security of this nation.  OK, so much for my soapbox - let me tell you that Shelly and I have had two wonderful weekends in Texas.  One in Fredericksburg, back in late January and one in Austin on the first weekend in April.  Snow skiing was wonderful this year.  Shelly and I spent a month (Feb 23 till March 22) in Colorado.  Almost three weeks in the Keystone area, 10 days at Snowmass (that's by Aspen) and a few days with family in Grand Junction.  I will be writing you from Hawaii, DC, NYC, Maine and various other places before long.  That was a small hint to our plans to start the summer.  I really enjoy reading the blogs of people that I have met through this site.  Some are: http://spaces.msn.com/humblefamily/ , http://spaces.msn.com/fishwang552/ , http://spaces.msn.com/mominamerica2/ , http://spaces.msn.com/jcro44-oc/ ,

http://spaces.msn.com/veteranword/ , http://spaces.msn.com/arcangel811962/ , that is just a few and you know you can get to so many more by checking out the comments from some of these folks.  I want to think these folks and everyone else who have left comment on my site.  Thank You All and God Bless each and everyone of you.

Well, what to do with myself?  I'm very fortunate that I am part of a family farm in western Oklahoma.  My parents are still living and still live on the farm.  My sister and her husband take care of part of the farm and have several head of cattle.  I have been working out there some this year helping my father by arranging for one of his farms to go from row cropping to pasture.  It has been very enjoyable and the time with my family has been great.  I look forward to helping my folks, my sister and her husband as time goes by and I think my city girl (Shelly) will find it fun and interesting also.  One of my cousins have been farming Dad's land while I have been away in the service, except for what my sister and her husband have been taking care of, and he has managed it wonderfully but has moved on to take care of more of his holdings so now it is my time to help out on the farm.  Shelly and I really enjoy living in Oklahoma City and plan to just drive back and forth to help when we are needed or when we want to just go out and visit.  Growing up on a farm was wonderful.  As it was happening it did not seem so wonderful from time to time but the freedom of being outside, planning, and making decisions based upon our desires and our plans for the land are a blessing few get to enjoy.

Exercise is really becoming important.  Since I do not have an office to go to or a job that runs my day by day activity I am finding it a challenge to maintain the physical activity I need.  Lucky for me, Shelly is an avant bike rider and I am trying to catch up with her - that will take some time but hopefully she will slow down sometime for me.  The gym is important also and lucky for me it is only about a mile away.  So, it looks like most of our days are going to start out with an energy drink and a pre-workout energy bar and plenty of water and off we will go for a couple of hours of riding or going to the gym.  I look forward to the routine because I am learning how important physical activity along with good nutrition is more important now than ever before.  Maybe I can be of help to someone else along this road.

Well, it is so good to get back to writing.  I look forward to checking the comments and checking others blogs.

Take care, have a Good Day, a Great Week and God Bless You All

Jerry

Sunday Morning

GOOD MORNING TO ALL - -

Typical Oklahoma winter morning here - below 30 degrees fahrenheit and the wind is blowing more that 10 mph and will increase today to about 40 mph.  Very dry and chance of fire is great.  We have a burn ban which means no outside fire of any kind - no charcoal grilling today and none will be allowed until we get some moisture.  So what? You may ask!  Many people like to grill outside - I'm one of those vegetarian types - but I eat a little fish, a little chicken, a little pork and a little beef - hope I didn't make the real vegetarians mad.  I like (my wife, Shelly, does it better than me) to cook meat and vegetables out side over a grill every once in a while.  The flavor of grilled food is something we really enjoy but it seems that type of cooking is a little on the messy side so we don't do it very often and normally just by ourselves.  I really enjoy the blog sites where people talk about their cooking and post recipes.

I feel like by blog has become boring for a lot of people because now I really don't have current Iraq stuff to write about.  I'm sorry that you have lost one of your lines to what is going on in Iraq.  There are a lot of good blogs from people in Iraq to inform you of the good things that are happening there.  Here is a website that I really like - www.centcom.mil - please go there and you can read about some of the latest projects that are going on and those that have been completed.  Also, it gives you a little insight of how everyone is working and striving for more freedom and security.  Now, here is one of the best sites (there are many best sites but this man can cut through a lot of the unpleasant stuff and pass on a good message - if your strong enough to see it!) - http://spaces.msn.com/veteranword/ - also, on his site you will find many links to other military blogs that if you scan them you will find them very interesting.  You will find that those people who have sacrificed do have a greater appreciation for life in a free society.  OK, OK, so much for my soapbox - - - I hope you enjoy and get some of the information you are seeking.  I appreciate all you positive folks out there and would like to visit with each and every one of you.  I pray for your happiness and a life filled with Blessings from God - God Bless You

10 February 2006 - More to do than I had planned

Good Morning!

Oh, so wonderful to wake in the morning in a land where freedom allows one to rise and go about the daily routine of life based upon the decisions we have made regarding our individual routines.  I feel so blessed and thankful for this freedom.  Some of you may get tried of reading about this thing called 'Freedom' but until your freedom is restricted you may never realize what a gift has been given to you.  When you make a decision whether it turns out the way you had planned or not please realize you have done something that millions only dream about - the ability to decide your fate and your future.  Make the most of it and treasure it to the fullest.

Shelly and I have really enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  We attended a charity event for the Oklahoma Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation a few nights ago.  What a thrill to observe people contributing their time, money and gifts.  Every day across this country people give freely and contribute to their community with money, gifts or their time in order to help others.  What are you going to do today?  Who will you help today?  I would like for you to ponder this thought today, a quote from Leo Tolstory, "Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing himself."  Here is a prayer for you to consider from Gerard Hughes, "Lord, you said, "Let the person without sin cast the first stone."  Show us our own sin and your mercy, so that we may always be gentle and never condemn others in our hearts.  We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen."

Have a Wonderful Day and a Great Weekend -

God Bless You

I'm Home!!!!!

Thank God I'm Home!  Thank all of you for your prayers to God for his protection of our military men and women serving all around the world.  I'm sure God intervenes more than any of us can imagine and protects your family, friends and all the men and women in your prayers.  God answers prayers.

I know it has been awhile since I have put words to this media.  Please understand that the move from my room where I had access to the internet until today has been very busy with very little access to the internet.  Last night was my second night home sleeping in my bed.  My last mission in Iraq was flown on Christmas day.  I'm glad I was able to help and I'm glad my last flight in Iraq was CHRISTmas day.  I'm no one special in this great military force but just a very small part of a very dynamic force with the goal of protecting freedom, protecting free speech, protecting the opportunity for people to chose how they want to benefit society, their family, or just live a peaceful live to themselves in the land of their choosing.  The freedom's we enjoy everyday are very precious and my prayer for you is that you treasure your freedom and enjoy your life and thank God that you have men and women that are putting their lives on hold or on the line (and many are suffering injuries and death) for you.  For you to enjoy Freedom - so - don't abuse this thing called Freedom - use it in such a manner that those who have paid the price for your Freedom would be proud of your contribution to yourself, your family, your friends and your country.  God Bless You and God Bless America.

I would like to think all those that have helped me this past year.  I'm going to start passing on little tidbits about some of the men I served with in Iraq.  This "Thank You" goes to my wife Shelly, my sister, Mom & Dad and my children.  Thank you for your support and your prayers.  I want the world to know how proud I am of Shelly and how she helped me get through the year away from home.  Her letters, cards, care packages and the time we shared over the telephone and computer gave me the assurance and support from home that I needed to be able to give my full attention to the job at hand while performing my duties in the Army.  My sister and her husband (Donna and Danny) took time out of their life to spend with me via the internet, phones and care packages also.  I know they had many difficult times during the past year and yet they were always uplifting my spirit and making my life better on a daily basis - Thank you Donna and Danny and may God shower you with the blessings of friends and a healthy life.  I want the world to know that these two women, Shelly and Donna, have also spent the past year improving their health - Shelly has dropped two sizes in her clothes (she blamed me for her overweight condition [she is not overweight - she is perfect] and she is correct about me being the cause of her gaining weight because I love to cook and I did allow her to get away from her exercise regime) and she is back to an excellent workout program and the Nutrilite products have made it very easy for her to eat a more healthy diet.  My sister also lost a lot of weight and looks better (I've always thought she was beautiful) and feels better.  She is a living example of a good Christian that has suffered in life and yet lives her life day by day with a positive attitude of helping others in life and giving credit to and pointing others to a spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ.  I am very thrilled that she has a husband that is understanding and very supportive of my sister and my sister's family - Thank you Danny!  To Mom and Dad - You are the best!  Words cannot express my thanks and gratitude for all you have done for me and my family.  The good that I have done in my life is a direct credit to Mom & Dad.  The world is a better place because Eugene and Joycle past this way and touched the lives of so many people directly and indirectly.  Dad not only talked about the importance of stewardship in this life but lived and set the example of how all men should take care of what God has allowed them to have in this life and past on those beliefs through countless ways from teaching Sunday School classes, being a member of a quartet that sang in Churches at any occasion from just a special song to signing at funerals and just being a friend and counselor to an untold number of people.  Dad always put others needs and comfort at the top of his priority list.  I Thank God that I was his son.  Joycle's heart is filled with love and concern for others.  She has always and continues to be there to support anyone who is in need.  You and Dad are the best team and an example for all to follow because it has never matter how little you had or how much you had, you two have always set the example that we all should follow - the example?  You have taken a stand.  The stand? If you were tried in court for being a Christian, you both would be found guilty.  A conviction that as a son I feel is correct and just and may your penalty be countless blessings.  Thank you again for being the Christian example for others to follow.  To my children, Thank you for your support this past year.  I know each of you have dealt with challenges in your life and you have always been supportive to me.  Thanks Casey for your service to our Country.  I know that my other son, Mike wanted to serve in the Army but due to a medical problem was not allowed.  Mike, like Casey would have served with distinction and honor.  Thank you both for your efforts, your service and your support.  May God shower you both and my daughter, Carmen with blessings and good health.  I love you each, your wives, your husband and your children.

Well, it's almost time for me to once again fix Shelly a special coffee drink for when she awakes and gets out of bed in the morning.  We fix each other an espresso drink each morning.  We enjoy several varieties from iced to hot, from flavored with syrups to just adding soy milk, it's just our special time in the mornings we have together.  One day I plan to own one of the fancy machines so I can get up in the morning and the machine has already prepared the espresso - yeah, one day in the future when I have about $4,000.00 to spend on a espresso machine.  Most people wear a Rolex when they have got there as an expression of their success - Well, when I write about our $4,000.00 espresso machine you will know that I have got there - where?  When I am debt free, got the contributions going that I secretly desire and helped others achieve some of their goals and dreams then I will celebrate with the special espresso maker.

Thank all of you for you kind comments.  Now, that I'm home I will try to answer some of the questions via emails and this media that many have asked.  To those that have family and loved ones serving overseas please pray for their safety, that God would protect them, that God would comfort them when they lose loved ones and that God would comfort the families of those back home when their loved ones pay the price so we can have Freedom.  Please keep sending letters and care packages to your family members, friends and any military member serving overseas.  The thrill of receiving something from the homefront is so very important because it is the assurance for the soldiers that they are remembered, loved and the knowledge that they are appreciated.

Thank you again and God Bless You All

21 December 2005

Hi

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I do not have any new pictures to post but will do so in a couple of days.  I hope to have a few new ones by Christmas.  Everything is fine for us at the current time.

I hope everyone understands that I am one of the individuals that support the President and support the effort here that will make life better for the Iraq people and will make the world a safer place for all.  My ability to express my thoughts may not come across as clear as they are in my mind and in my heart but for all those that may think the evil I write about implies evil men in the US Government than you misunderstand, you are wrong!  The evil men I talk about are the men who plan suicide bombing attacks, men & women who carry out such attacks to intentionally kill soldiers who are trying to protect people, kill people while they are shopping, kill people while they stand in line for a job application in order to have a better lifestyle.  The list could go on and on but you are not stupid people that read this blog and you should know by now that America and our allies are striving to get rid of the evil individuals and make not only our country a safer place to live but help make the world a safer place for all.  So, if you still have a problem getting my drift then go ahead and try to blame someone while your enjoying your freedom that someone has given their life for because your statements will just show how uncaring and undeserving you are for the freedom you enjoy.  To the rest of you who write such thankful and kind comments - - THANK YOU AGAIN - - everyone who is away from family and friends thanks you for your support.  I wish I could talk to each individual face to face and say, "Thank You".  I can not get across to you how important those comments are not only to me but the other soldiers that don't have a blog site but follow this one and many others written by people here and in other countries.  You supporters of the soldiers are a group so large that if your voice was heard then the media would not have an opportunity to talk about anything negative because there would not be enough time even on the 24 hour news shows - you would dominate the air - you are the true voice of Freedom - - -

So until I have the chance to send you some pictures and a chance to pass on more information about the good over here please enjoy your holiday, spend as much time as possible with family and friends, tell everyone that you love - that you love them, and thank God that you have the gift of freedom - - Merry Christmas (thank God for sending Jesus Christ) and Happy New Year to all.

God Bless You

Hello!  I hope you have had a wonderful weekend.

Flying today was very enjoyable - the sky was clear and the visibility was unrestricted - unrestricted?  Means you could see as far as you could see!   I have enjoyed the opportunity to fly almost over every inch of this country.  Believe me when I say it is a fascinating country.  This country is rich with history.  The culture is different throughout the country - reminds me of the United States.  Different cultures, different people from Hawaii to Alaska to south Florida - we are different in many ways and yet we are all Americans.  Same here - different in many ways and yet all one.  All one trying to figure out how to live together peacefully.  I believe they want to live together peacefully except for a few evil men who have been convinced through misguided teachings and who knows why they are bent on destroying societies that allow people to be free and make their own decisions as long as those decisions don't infringe on the freedoms of others.  Evil men from other countries (and some within this country) come across the borders to kill innocent men, women and children.  Why?  When we, in America have an evil individual come across the border (or one of our citizens) from some other country and kills an American man, woman or child - what do we do?  We don't put up with it!  We seek help from someone who will hunt down the evil individual, arrest and punish or kill them if they don't surrender.  In this country there are millions of people working day by day toward a better lifestyle for themselves and their families.  All they want is what Americans have - the opportunity to live free and make their decisions on how to improve life for themselves and their families.  They are successful in this endeavor.  Is it being accomplished fast enough?  Apparently not fast enough for some of you!  What is fast enough?  The speed of their accomplishment is dependent on two many factors that we can not name them.  What we can name is the one factor that good hearted people with good values and principles have within them - you have seen an example of what I'm trying to name.  When an individual looses a loved one what do you see?  You see good, kind hearted people comforting the ones in sorrow.  You also see people with hate in their heart who do nothing and sometimes take advantage of the ones who have lost someone in their lives that is important to them because at that moment they are weak and vulnerable.  The military is helping those that have lost loved ones by seeking out the evil and destroying it!  Are innocent people lost in this effort?  Yes, I'm sorry it happens and another example - - - what about the State Trooper trying to catch the evil individual on the highway who is speeding and endangering numerous lives and then through an error caused not by the State Trooper but by the individual who does not care about others causes an accident and innocent men, women and children suffer or die?  Is it the State Troopers fault - of course not!  It's the fault of the individual who decided to break the law - the law established by our government, a law based upon good values and principles.  Realize that evil is everywhere and will destroy innocent people for as long as you allow.  For many of you I may be rambling but the essene of this is:  You control the things around you that you can control - be the individual you desire to see in others.  You desire to see kindness in others, then be kind to all.  You desire to see love in others, then love your neighbor as yourself.  You desire law abiding people who will treat others with respect, then be the one to obey the laws.  You desire to see others helping others, then you help someone less fortunate.  You can change the world for better or worse, it's up to you.
God Bless You All -
I will not be able to post for several days but I will return.  I appreciate all of you for your prayers for protection.  I appreciate all the kind comments that have been left - I pray for love, kindness and happiness for you all - - - - - One more thing - please view: FOR THE FEW WHO DON'T KNOW:  Red Skelton was a movie star and comedian on television back in the 1950's.  He created a number of characters and his show was watched by millions.  He did this on his show on evening, back when shows were live.  http://patriotfilesannex.org/Pledge.htm

Hi

Good Morning!

Well, sometimes a person has to make a stand for what they Believe.  I've been listening to many people on the news station on TV.  This article is very difficult to write because it is a challenge for me to get across to you what I'm witnessing here in Iraq.  As you know from reading my blog I'm a very professional soldier and therefore I'm a defender of America, the Commander in Chief and the Constitution.  I enlisted in the Army in January 1969.  You can figure how many Commanders in Chief I have the opportunity to serve under.  I know the penalty for not supporting the Commander in Chief as a soldier.  I am very proud of the current Commander in Chief.  I would not make that statement about some previous Presidents.  I, not only believe, but KNOW in fact that President Bush is right in his efforts to get rid of the evil terrorist that are planning and attacking civilians, planning and attacking our allies and planning and attacking our military.  The planning of future attacks are not only for the countries outside of the United States borders but areas within the United States.  You may ask, "What information am I privileged to in order to make this statement?"  Nothing more than any citizen that lives in the United States.  So, why am I making this statement?  Common Sense!

I grew up on the farm and my father raised cattle.  A lesson learned while observing my Dad raise cattle.  Every once in a while a cow that was not satisfied with life in the pasture would walk the fence and find a weak spot and then cross the fence and eat the crop on the other side of the fence.  Now, the cow was caught in a pen, loaded in a trailer and transferred back to it's home pasture.  Dad would repair the fence but the cow would again walk the fence look for a weak spot and again tear down the fence and go where she was not suppose to go.  Dad, now realizing he had an animal that would not follow the rules of staying within boundaries established made a decision to either give the cow another chance or get rid of the cow.  He would do anything necessary to insure the cow did not get out again because he had respect for his neighbors property that his cow was destroying.  If it was necessary to get rid of what he thought was a good cow then he would get rid of the cow in order to protect his neighbors property.  If the neighbor had a cow that was doing the same thing to Dad's property he would make an effort to work with his neighbor to restore the fence and protect his property or he would have to seek legal assistance to protect his property.  The neighbor like Dad would do what was necessary to protect Dad's property and to maintain the good neighborly relationship farmers have for each other.  You may not like the analogy but our President has recognized there are not only bad cows (people) but there are evil cows (people) who not only want to eat in his (our) pasture but the evil cows (people) want to destroy our pasture.  So, what has to be done?  The fence (relationship with our allies) has to be repaired and maintained, the evil cows (people) have to be removed from the pasture.  Like my father and my fathers neighbors they captured the cows and if nothing else - they (cows) were taken to the slaughter house and destroyed!  So, what's left for our President to do?  Common Sense - Destroy the evil!  If you like your pasture - where you live, your highways, your shopping malls, your mom & pop stores, your hospitals, your recreation (snow skiing, water skiing, golfing, etc.), your freedom to travel from State to State, your restaurants, your unbelievable mansion that you live in (by world standards, a two bedroom home with indoor plumbing, your in the upper 10% of what people live in anywhere in the world), your freedom to attend any Church you wish to worship God (that's your choice not someone telling you when to pray, where to pray and dictating what your children will believe), your choice of automobile to drive - - - - -I'm sure you can continue this list with things that are on your mind and in your heart.  The stand that I'm making?  The stand that I believe all Americans should make - I support my Commander in Chief, your & my President, - President Bush - He is doing a Great Job as President of the United States of America.  If your not happy with that statement, If you don't believe in that statement then why don't you take a trip, a trip to somewhere like, uh, maybe Iran, North Korea or imagine what it was like here several years ago.  Go buy you a house, get you a car, drive to the grocery store and buy some fresh meat, vegetables or fruit from all over the world, go home and prepare that meal in state of the art cookware on the best stove purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot and then go out to a local pub for a drink with friends and talk politics, maybe even talk bad about the countries leaders and what a bad job their doing - go ahead and try that lifestyle for awhile - OH, your not interested???? Then stop bashing how bad you have it, how you were mislead into this war - stop it!  Start being positive about how Great it is to be an American, how fortunate you are to live where you live and have the lifestyle you have and start a movement of realizing how difficult it is to be Commander in Chief, start being more positive and more supportive of his decisions.  The world is a better place because of the decisions he has made and the actions he has taken.  You not happy with his leadership?  Next election vote for the individual you want to be the leader and then no matter who is elected - support that individual - I know I will!

My prayer is that God will Bless your Thanksgiving Day with Joy and Happiness.  May you enjoy the Freedom.  I also believe that we should Love one another not only as directed by Jesus Christ but also by the life he exemplified.  What a wonderful time of the year back in the States - Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.  Enjoy, show your love for your loved ones, praise God with a freedom of religion you enjoy and treasure the time you have with family and friends.

God Bless You

I'm passing on something I read on -

http://spaces.msn.com/members/jcro44-OC/ - site this morning - hope it inspires you also.

Some thoughts to inspire:

" We cannot control life's difficult moments but we can choose to make life less difficult. We cannot control the negative atmosphere of the world, but we can control the atmosphere of our minds. Too often we try to choose and control things we cannot. Too seldom we choose to control what we can -- our attitude."
John Maxwell

" To get out of difficulty, one usually has to go through it. To discover the limits of the possible, go beyond them into the impossible, for happiness is enhanced by others, but does not depend on others."
